Babygirl: Facts and Trivia Behind Hit Steamy Thriller

Since its release, Babygirl (directed by Halina Reijn and starring Nicole Kidman) has been a hot talking point amongst film fans.

A two hour deep-dive into sex, control, dominance and relationships, Babygirl has caused a huge stir. Whether it’s the uninhibited sex scenes between Nicole Kidman and co-star Harris Dickinson or the mind blowing performances from the cast, Babygirl is a movie that fans just can’t get over.

Best Movie

Babygirl was named one of the best movies of 2024 by the National Board of Review. Kidman also won the award for Best Actress for her role as Romy.

On Location at A24

Several scenes in Babygirl were actually filmed in the offices of the film production company, A24. The office scenes where character Romy works as CEO were set in A24’s very own building.

Milking It

Nicole Kidman confirmed in promo interviews that she ended up drinking “16 glasses of milk” for the infamous bar scene.

Taxi Cab

Nicole Kidman is a respected artist, and for a good reason. Her authentic and immersive performances have been impressive through the years, but Babygirl is probably one of the greatest of her career.

Kidman is said to have become so “in character” during filming the movie that she found the experience a blur. At one point, it’s alleged that she was still filming when she hailed a real cab on the street and, while still in character, told the cab driver where she wanted to go. Staff working on the flick had to quickly stop the taxi and get the actress out.

Too Sexy

During filming, Nicole Kidman is said to have found acting out so many orgasms “too intense” and often had to take a break from the raunchy stuff. The chemistry between herself and her co-star hide this fact very well!

Babygirl Director Halina Reijn isn’t new to the film world. She has directed three other movies and is also an actress herself. She has starred in several films and has won awards for Best Actress and Best Script, amongst many others.
