Actress Jennifer Tilly on the set of Chucky TV series.

As actress Jennifer Tilly celebrates her birthday today, it seems the perfect time to explore the star’s life and career, and examine how she has become one of horror’s ultimate killer icons…

BORN in LA on 16th September 1958, Jennifer Tilly was the first daughter of the family. Growing alongside her siblings — a single brother and two sisters — Tilly eventually achieved a Bachelor of Arts from Stephens College in Missouri.

Tilly branched out into acting shortly after her studies, taking on several small roles in various films in the 80s, including No Small Affair, Inside Out, Let It Ride and Shadow Of The Wolf. Tilly also acted in a role specifically written for her in movie The Fabulous Baker Boys — it was this film which launched Tilly into the wider spotlight.

In 1994’s Bullets Over Broadway, Tilly played the role of Olive Neal, and that performance gained her an Academy Award Nomination. Already audiences were beginning to enjoy her appeal and on-stage charisma.

In 1996, Tilly starred in cult thriller Bound, which was written and directed by the Wichowskis. In one of her lighter roles, she starred in Jim Carrey’s classic comedy, Liar Liar. Tilly was cast as the unfaithful wife, Samantha Cole. The actress glowed in the role next to the comedy legend and made a huge impact on her on-screen time.

Her career continued to grow from strength to strength, as the actress’s popularity increased and her roles became more prominent. It was 1998’s Bride of Chucky role as Tiffany Valentine that sent the star into the realm of horror legend, and her status was to be forevermore tied to the iconic killer doll, where she rightfully earned her place as Chucky’s equally entertaining sidekick.

Since then, Tilly has gone on to star in Curse Of Chucky, Cult Of Chucky, and the hugely anticipated upcoming Chucky TV series, which is set to air this Autumn.

Aside from her most iconic role as the killer toy, Tilly continued to star in various other significant titles, including romantic comedy Ray Meets Helen and The Secret Lives Of Dorks. Beyond her accomplishments in film, Tilly has also starred in several TV productions, such as Family Guy and Modern Family.

With all those much-loved roles under her belt, Tilly would be excused for not expanding her repertoire to anything further, but the popular actress didn’t stop there — she became a world class professional Poker player. During her time playing the game in high profile tournaments, Tilly has won several awards and been recognised as one of the top players.

With her captivating performances in numerous movie projects over the years, it’s easy to see why the actress has become so popular in the public eye. Her edginess, charisma and charm keep her fans captivated.

With the upcoming Chucky series soon to be aired, her fans will be watching with interest to see where the much-loved actress will take her career next….
